Justice is in the Fair
The Edmonton Journal
Published: Saturday, May 10Today is Fair Trade Day around the world. Fair Trade is an international movement for justice in marketing products from marginalized countries in ways that are mindful of the ecology. To help celebrate the day, we offer a selection of Fair Trade items from Ten Thousand Villages on Whyte Avenue, Revelations Book & Gift Store at Whitemud Crossing (next to the library) and Earth's General Store on Whyte Avenue.
Fair Trade products are made by hand and often in the producers' homes. They are made of materials that are locally available and sometimes even from recycled post-consumer products or from natural and biodegradable materials. They also provide asset-poor people living in remote areas with income opportunities. For information go to www.wftday.org/english/index.htm
