Description
  • Italiano: Mostasu de le Cossere mascherone (letteralmente "mostaccio") tardomedioevale di gusto popolare, con il naso scalpellato. La scultura ha origini incerte. Secondo alcuni studiosi sarebbe stata in origine una mensola o ornamento di un antico edificio poi trasferita. Secondo la leggenda popolare rappresenta Teodorico re dei Goti. La leggenda fa risalire l'ablazione del naso al 1311, quando l'imperatore Arrigo VII avrebbe dato l'ordine di staccare il naso a tutte le statue della città, furioso per la resistenza opposta dai bresciani all'assedio.
