Women’s Forum Holds ‘Annual Dhamaka 2011’

Palanpuri Indian Idol Ginee Shah

A summer afternoon came to life at the 'Annual Dhamaka 2011', hosted by the Women’s Forum of the Palanpur Samaj Kendra on 24th March.

Inspired by the Indian Idol fever, the fun grew contagious as the Women’s Forum organized their very own Palanpuri Indian Idol competition. The winner’s trophy went to Ginee Shah, the first runner-up was Nisha Mehta and the second runner-up was Parul Bhansali. Certificates for various categories were also awarded.

The competition was structured into three rounds - Personal Choice round, Chit round and The Contestant’s Best Song round. The final round witnessed an exceptional quality of singing, as per the opinions of the judges as well as the audience.

The Judges

The organisers were initially apprehensive about how many people would participate, but were pleased to receive an overwhelming response. In fact, so many came forward to sing that the fourth round had to be done away with due to time constraints.

The afternoon flew by as Abhilashbhai and his team’s background music score spurred the participants to put in their best efforts. Avaniben Parikh, Heenaben Mehta and Ritaben Kothari, who all have in-depth knowledge about classical and contemporary music and are reputed singers themselves, judged the event.

An enthusiastic audience

The event was conceptualized and taken through to its successful conclusion by Sangeen Mehta, Sonal Bhansali and Nikita Mehta.

It was an enjoyable evening for the lively, packed audience, which was treated to good food, games, prizes, and of course, great singing!
