LEAGUE 5/06/2002

Round Tower 1-11

Kilmacud Crokes 1-4

Round Towers Senior Ladies

team recorded yet another league victo- ry over Kilmacud Crokes on Wednes- day last in the community centre.

Catherine Roche started off the

scoring with a point followed by two

from Emma Redmond. Although

Crokes had many attacks in the first

half the defence of Susan Kavanagh and

Amanda Murray kept their chances of

scoring slim. Catherine Roche added

another point as well as two from the

left boot of Emma Redmond. Sinéad

Kenny recorded a fantastic goal to the

score after a pinpoint pass from Emma

Redmond and excellent running off the

ball from Sinéad Kenny. Towers had

worked up 1-7 before conceding two

points, which saw the end of the first,

half.

Changes at half time made the

difference in a great display of football

in the second half. Catherine Roche

added two points to the leading score

for Towers. Crokes had a good share of

the ball in the second half but made lit- tle use of it with scoring just a point.

Tactical changes of position in the team

led Towers to concede a goal and a point

in the last few minutes. Suzanne Mur- ray was great at midfield while Maria

Kavanagh worked hard at centre half

back. A good team performance was

displayed with exact passing and simple

moves.

Team: Lisa Gregg, Amanda Mur- ray, Caitríona Mc Grath, Louise

O’ Neill, Eimear Mc Grath, Pame- la Dunne, Susan Kavanagh, Su- zanne Murray, Annette Harring- ton, Aisleen Milton, Catherine

Roche, Maria Kavanagh, Sinéad

Kenny, Emma Redmond, Sinéad

Mc Nulty.

Subs: Ruth Collins for Aisleen Mil- ton, Orlagh Mc Gaughey for Pame- la Dunne, Denise Dockery for

Sinéad Kenny.

LEAGUE 6/06/2002

Round Tower 0-7

Naomh Mearnog 1-14

Round Towers were soundly bea- ten by League leaders, Naomh Mearnog

in this League fixture played in Port- marnock on Thursday evening, 06 June

2002. Towers survived a lightening start

by Naomh Mearnog when Keith Gra- ham brought off a great save in the first

minute. There followed another bad

miss by Mearnog in the third minute

when they split the Towers defence

apart only to shoot wide. Darragh Kelly

opened the Towers account on 6 mi- nutes, lucky to have only conceded 2

points at this stage. Stephen McGibney

equalised from a free on ten minutes.

Mearnog pressure began to pay off

when they scored 4 unanswered points.

Ger. Minahan narrowed the gap to ma- nageable proportions with a pointed

free after he himself was fouled. Howev- er the last three minutes of the half

proved disastrous for Towers when they

conceded a further 1 - 2 to leave the

half-time score Naomh Mearnog 1 - 8;

Round Towers 0 - 3.

Towers determined to salvage

some pride, opened the second half-
