About us:

I work in consulting in the finance/accounting industry; DH is pursuing his MBA.  I am originally from Seattle and he is from Chicago.  We met during college in Southern California and both got jobs in Los Angeles after graduation.  After a few years of the LA rat race, we moved out to Cleveland, OH so that DH could take a job at a private equity firm that he really liked.  I found a position at a boutique consulting firm there, we bought a big old house, and for three years lived the American dream.

However, we can never stay put for long.  Last summer, just a few months after our wedding, we put our house on the market and started apartment-hunting in Boston, where DH would be starting grad school in the fall.  Moving from a 3,000 SF house to an 800 SF apartment?  As is turns out, it's not so much fun!  We got rid of a ton of stuff, threw the rest in a Uhaul, and moved it east.

Well, most of it, anyway.  When my employer found out that DH had applied to business schools (yeah, Cleveland is a SMALL city!), they offered me a pretty compelling package to stay on board with them and commute weekly from Boston to Cleveland.  So that's what I am doing.  I have my little studio apartment in Cleveland - a newlywed with a bachlorette pad! - where I stay while I'm working.  I'm generally back in Boston with DH on Thursday night and don't go back to work until Monday morning.

When I'm not working, I'm usually running, cooking, or drinking beer.  DH and I both love to travel, and try to get outdoors whenever we can - camping, hiking, rock climbing - but it's much more difficult back east than it was in California.  When we're done with this Boston chapter, we'd love to perhaps move back west!

So that's our little newlywed life.  A little unconventional, but it works for us. :)  We have one cat, Emily, whom we love dearly - and that's as much responsibility as we can handle right now.  (So keep that baby dust away, please!)
