Challenge 43 - Tidal Pool

This piece called Tidal Pool. The finished size is about 18 inches by 15 inches.

The background is pieced to look like the sand ripples as the tide goes out. The stones are 2 layers of fabric plus batting to create a little dimension. The sea stars are needle felted and beaded to appliqué to the background.

What an effective background! It truly has the feel of rippling sand. The stars are terrific...well done!

Great piece! The background piecing is very effective. I took photos of lovely, artistic ripples several years ago off the California coast and now know a great way to try piecing it. I like the way you made your rocks and sea stars to get dimension, too.

Ditto what the others said. I especially love the background. You certainly have met this challenge. I am trying to imagine what it would be like if two or three of the rocks were overlapped.

Great job!

Very nice piece! I especially like the sea stars. Very effective background and the unusual shape adds interest. Your quilt has lots of movement.

Lisa, this is very well done, I agree with all the above comments and would like to add that your needle felting was an excellent way to make your starfish! Super!!

Vety nice. I like the fact that you felted the starfish.
