Doncaster go into administration

Rugby League

Doncaster Rugby League Club have been placed into administration.

The club, who are bottom of the Championship, are believed to have debts in the region of £80,000.

"The idea of going of going into administration was to give it [the club] a lifeline," chief executive Dave Marshall told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"The administrator is now looking through all the finances, seeing what needs to be done to get us through to the end of the season."

Marshall added: "We need to be looking now at getting other people into the club, whether that be new owners, a co-operative has been mentioned, a supporters trust.

"All that is going to be looked at by the administrator.

"It could be a short period of administration. It could last until the end of the year, but that depends on cash, cash flow and whether somebody comes in to take over the club."

The club have appointed Jeremy Bleazard, of XL Business Solutions, as administrator.

Bleazard said: "Administration will give the club a lifeline until a buyer can be found and this has been done in the best interests of Doncaster RLFC.

"The cash flow for the club is extremely tight and the company needs an injection of funds, so we would urge any potential investors or buyers to come forwards as soon as possible."
