I love Ms. Presson's spirit and her commitment to writing, and the story itself is sufficiently intriguing to suggest that she can do better. Note that I'm not quibbling about a few typos, which appear more and more often in books published by traditional publishers.
This book's problems are manifold. They include punctuation errors, such as inconsistent formatting of dashes and hyphens, unpronounceable names, shifting perspective from character to character mid chapter, using complex words when a simple one would do, misplaced modifiers ("Rumors that he was a demon born of the fires of Noltach had circulated for years.") and more.
I told Ms. Presson to withdraw the book and to find a new publisher and a professional editor. The publisher that provided the editor for this edition has done her a huge disservice.
Admittedly the book seems a tad on the short side, it feels almost like someone cut it off midway through the second act. With luck however the second book is coming soon, as I eagerly await the second installment.
