Rising Stars and Guests
On the occasion of PSK’s Rising Stars felicitation ceremony at the Indian Merchants Chamber, it was heartening to see a bustling, packed room assembled on a Sunday morning to encourage young talent.
Commencing with the Saraswati Vandana, the ceremony went on to celebrate significant academic achievements and the accomplishments of students who had engaged in a multiplicity of extra-curricular interests. While success in various board examinations and degree courses were felicitated, there was an emphasis on the all-round character of development.
Pathiikbhai Kothari
The other interests of every student were announced, and special felicitations were accorded for triumphs like representing India at the Commonwealth Games for swimming, being invited to NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre for robotics, attaining world rankings in table-tennis and chess, receiving a national award in poetry and state awards in taekwondo. Talents in art and performance were also celebrated. There were speeches about broadening perspectives on dyslexia, time management, business growth, the activities of the youth club Melange, and support for working women and girls’ education.
Vibhaben Kothari proposes the Vote of Thanks
The programme gained from the humbling wisdom of the chief guest, Pathikbhai Kothari, Executive Vice President of Larsen and Toubro. He spoke about the importance of fostering a culture of everyday learning, beyond the customary emphasis on academic achievements. His story of success marked its cornerstones in hard work, the constant ability to step out of his comfort zone, and the understanding that to manage others, he first needed to better manage his physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self.
The event was wrapped within a timely, well-organised schedule, credited to the management efforts of the Education Committee of the Palanpur Samaj Kendra.
