The country's anti-corruption commission has given Prime Minister Ivo Sanader 15 days to provide a list of his wristwatches and explain how he acquired them. The request came after local news outlets reported that Mr. Sanader owned a large collection of luxury watches, reportedly worth tens of thousands of dollars, that he failed to declare when taking office in 2003. Politicians must declare all financial assets. The issue has dented Mr. Sanader's popularity, with many Croats wondering how a premier who earns $2,700 a month could afford brands like Rolex, Cartier and an A. Lange & Söhne said to be worth more than $36,000.
