MERCER UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE TO OFFER "YOGA FOR POSITIVE HEALTH" WORKSHOP
Macon, GA Interested in learning more about the positive benefits of yoga? Mercer University School of Medicine invites the public to a two-day yoga workshop June 3-4 at The Wellness Center on Northside Drive in Macon. International lecturer and yoga teacher N.V. Raghuram will share his insights in six areas of yoga practice and will lead five yoga sessions.
Lecture topics include: Science and Stress, Indian Concept of Stress, Human Personality, Awareness and Relaxation, Relaxation Techniques and Executive Growth.
Yoga has been around for 5,000 years and continues to increase in popularity as more and more people experience its positive benefits. Athletes and celebrities, such as Michael Jordan, Madonna and Sting, are proponents of yoga, as well as many others who believe that yoga not only promotes relaxation and reduces stress, but also increases the efficiency of the heart, lowers blood pressure, improves coordination and enhances concentration. Yoga is also practiced as supplementary therapy for conditions as diverse as cancer, diabetes, arthritis and asthma.
"Yoga for Positive Health" begins at 9 a.m. each day. The program costs $50 per person for the two-day workshop, or $30 per person for one day.
