Winton Woods junior Daniah Trammell has been named as a finalist for the Jersey Mike's Naismith High School Basketball Courage Award.

Trammell is one of 10 national finalists for the award, which is given out by the Atlanta Tipoff Club, the same organization that issues the Naismith Player of the Year awards for college and high school basketball.

Trammell was raised by a single mother, but has excelled in the classroom and on the court. She has a 3.4 GPA and leads the Warriors in scoring and rebounding. She also volunteers at basketball camps, helping the next generation to follow in her footsteps.

“Every year, we're moved by the stories of these young basketball players from across the country, whose bravery and leadership inspire us all. It's a joy to recognize Daniah as one of the top ten contenders for the Jersey Mike’s Naismith High School Basketball Courage Award. She truly represents what this honor is all about,” Atlanta Tipoff Club chairman Eric Oberman said in a statement.

The winner will be announced on March 6. Each male and female winner will receive $2,000. Jersey Mike's will make an additional $2,000 donation to the winner's high school basketball program.
