Stash Report - Week 13, 2013

I haven't reported in quite awhile.  I cannot quilt and knit at the same time!  My DS requested a baby quilt for a girl - I had none made ahead.  So this week I made a pink quilt with white bunnies on the flannel.  I backed it with white flannel, and used the same white flannel for batting.  Unfortunately, the quilt left this morning for CA when DS left at 3 a.m.  He worked in China last week and we (DH and I) kept the granddogs for him.  It was a joy to have the grands here.  We had Christmas gifts last night - and he was pleased.  When I go to visit in April, Christmas will be had again with dear DIL - she was in Hong Kong and is now visiting friends in Japan.

Yesterday I pulled out a yard of fabric with potatoes on it!  This weeks project will be to make baked potato bags for use in the microwave.  It may not be a large amount of fabric to be used, but some is better than none.  And so, the report

Fabric Added:  0 yards
Fabric Used:  3.5 yards
Total Added YTD:  0 yards
Total Used YTD:  11 yards

Thread usage:

Added:  0 spools
Used:  2 spools

Also, I have chosen 4 skeins of yarn that I think may work for Judy's Sock Yarn Pooling Challenge.  This will be a very interesting to learn what yarns pool and what yarns don't pool.

Check out Judy's blog to see what the quilter's have done this week!!!

Pooling Yarn Challenge - Yarn 4

After looking at a portion of my yarn stash, I discovered this yarn:

This yarn is from the Loopy Legends collection and is called, Margie's Water Lilies.  The photo does not do this yarn justice!!!  It is from the Loopy Ewe.

Check out Judy's blog to see what others have chosen.  It's time to knit!!!!

January 1, 2013

A new year!!!  It's good to leave 2012 behind.  Last year was good - until March!  I passed the cardiac stress test with flying colors, and a half hour later I was admitted to the hospital with all the signs of a heart attack/stroke.  The heart cath completed the following day indicated four blocked arteries that did not show on the stress test.  Open heart surgery followed two days later with four bypasses planned.  And, this begins my year long "attendance" at cardiac rehab.  I'm still going to rehab three times a week trying to regain my strength and to be able to walk distances.

Was that enough?  No, I fell in a quilt shop as I was sitting on a chair with wheels!  Down I went onto the floor and cracked my head hard.  No concussion, but dizziness followed for the next seven weeks.  After working my way through all the protocols insurance companies demand, finally a visit with the ENT.  He did an adjustment and the following day, no more dizziness.

So, slowly I am returning to my former life, minus the blocked arteries and dizziness.  Rehab will continue this year and my DH has joined me since his heart cath showed a silent heart attack.  I am now quilting, knitting and embroidering and am content with my life.

I will participate in the weekly stash reports, Sticks and Strings (and track the number of yards used as well as knitting projects completed) and try hard to find my sewing room and the top of DH's pool table.  I am adding the sashing to my first braid quilt - a gift for DS's bosses son. A second quilt will be made for their second child.  I'm using the Bearenstein bear fabrics and it is perfect for a little boy.

My goal for this first week of the year is to finish the quilt top and have it ready to hand quilt by next Sunday.  Pictures will come next week with my stash report.

I wish all of you a wonderful year!

Camp Loopy Project 3 - Wavy Striped Scarf

I made this scarf for a young, teenage male.  He spent a month in England/Ireland/France this summer with his family and came home with a wonderful hat.  The yarn matches the hat.  I have enough yarn to add fringe, but am waiting to hear from his mom whether fringe would be acceptable,   I purchased extra yarn for the fringe.  The pattern was free on Ravelry -  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/stripy-wavy-scarf.

This was a fun project and I would recommend it!  Happy Knitting!!!!
