It's a terrible thing when you're busy covering up for your boss - and being convicted of 4 felony crimes...
You're just too busy to update your website!
So the Scooter Libby website needs your help!!!
Back in December 2005, one of the most distinguished Washington lawyers ever to work for a Congressman best known for firing rifles at watermelons - Barbara Comstock - started a website on behalf of her hero Scooter Libby.
Comstock previously worked for Rep. Dan Burton - who was so concerned for the family of Vince Foster that he conducted experiments with a rifle and watermelon in a vain attempt to prove what even Ken Starr acknowledged was a ludicrous murder theory. (It is not known exactly what Comstock did during the great "Let's Assassinate A Watermelon" project conducted by her boss - but I'm sure it was meaningful.)
Anyway - in all the haste to lure in big bucks for the "Keep Scooter Out Of Jail Till The Pardon Comes Through Fund" ("The Trust may accept unlimited personal and corporate contributions") - Ms. Comstock has omitted to update Scooter's website lately!
There is no mention anywhere in the biography section that he is now a convicted felon!
No reference in his bio to the fact that he was found guilty of four felony crimes - two counts of perjury, one of obstruction of justice, and one of making false statements to federal investigators.
There IS a charming page on the website that lists selected quotes about Scooter Libby. "What You Aren't Hearing About Scooter Libby". And indeed the page lives up to its name. It's full of fulsome tributes to Scooter from George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and many other impartial observers.
But alas that page hasn't been updated since September of last year! And golly gosh! There have been one or two developments in the past six months. And especially in the last few days...
I think we all have a duty to help Scooter in his hour of need!
While we may not all be able to afford a contribution to his fund - which has a suggestion box of $10,000 for those who like to be generous - we can do the next best thing.
We can compile a list of things said about Scooter Libby that could be added to his website!
Wouldn't that be considerate?!
So please copy and paste anything of note that has been said by individuals, writers, prosecutors, lawyers, journalists, honorable people. And Judith Miller. Anything important that you think has been left out of the list of quotations about Scooter on his website.
And I will ensure that it reaches Scooter and his chum Barbara Comstock.
After all the trouble he went to in the course of protecting us - it's the very least we can do for him...
