WHAT CAN YOU BUY FOR $63 MILLION?

Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch completes major renovation project

ST. LOUIS, June 6, 2010 – Anyone who has renovated even one room in their home knows
what an involved process it can be. Imagine tackling a top-to-bottom transformation that
includes 910 bedrooms, over one thousand bathrooms, four professional kitchens, and a dining
room that can seat 1,300.

The Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch recently completed a $63 million renovation project
that updated both the look and function of the building.

“It took a talented team to complete this project and we are very proud of the results. We see
this as an investment in both our hotel and in the downtown area,” said Hyatt Managing Director
Greg Saunders.

The project team included St. Louis,MO-based Trivers Associates Architects; interior design firm
Looney & Associates of Dallas, TX; and The John Hardy Group, which has headquarters in
Atlanta, GA, for construction management.

By the Numbers
Some interesting statistics on what went in to giving new life to the Hyatt:

1.6 million pounds Reduction in the amount of CO2-equivalent emissions that the hotel’s
HVAC system will give off due to replaced equipment; this is equal to
taking 139 passenger vehicles off the road annually or could power 62
homes with gas and electricity for one year

1.19 tons Total weight of seven new chandeliers hanging in the main lobby

34 feet Length of custom-made chandelier in Red Kitchen & Bar

5 miles New wallpaper in ballroom, meeting areas, and lobby

46 square miles Amount of custom-made carpeting throughout the hotel

Perfect Balance of History and Modernism

“We wanted the updated décor to feel fresh and modern while still honoring the amazing history
of St. Louis. The hotel’s new artwork brings our concept to life,” Saunders said.

The main lobby features a 6’x6’ commissioned oil on canvas diptych depicting a modern
interpretation of the St. Louis skyline.

The ballroom prefunction space contains a series of ten historic black and white photos showing
the construction of the Arch at various stages as well as a series of black and white photos of
the Eads Bridge.

Red Kitchen and Bar is decorated with a 7.5’x10’ custom giclee triptych.

Brewhouse sports bar features historic photos from the Anheuser-Busch archives, a sculpture
created from antique keg barrels, and sports memorabilia created by the artist who produced
props for the movie “Leatherheads.”

But What Happened to the Horses?

“We are frequently asked about what happened to the large, bronze horses that used to be in
our lobby. Not to worry – the horses have found a good home!” Saunders said.

The nine foot tall sculpture of a pair of high-stepping horses named “San Marco II” was created
by Italian artist Ludovico De Luigi. The horses were donated by Chartres Lodging Company to
Chesterfield Arts, a non-profit organization, and installed in front of the Chesterfield City Hall
building.
