Missouri is an amazing state. And by exploring it county by county, 115 in all, you’ll be rewarded with the ultimate ‘Show Me’ experience.
This is a state rich in history, where you'll hear much of Lewis and Clark, Jesse James, the Pony Express, the Civil War, Daniel Boone, and Mark Twain. With wide variations in terrain and natural beauty, you don't have to go far for a change in scenery. Traversed by the longest river in the United States, where you'll find the largest single outlet spring in the United States and the largest underground lake in the world - this is the land of superlatives – over 5500 caves, location of the most powerful earthquake in US history, the longest rail-trail in the US, home to the oldest distillery and the largest brewery in the US. You'll find the largest ball of string, the world's largest shuttlecocks and goose, the only national World War I memorial and museum, and countless other unique and interesting places to visit. You'll pass though small towns, some with names you may have not heard of before: Devil's Elbow, Tightwad, Frankenstein, Monkey Run, and oddly enough, Peculiar. It's a land of four seasons, sometimes all in one day!
This tour of Missouri's counties will take you near many of these interesting sites, so we hope that you take the time to enjoy what's near or at the caches you'll be visiting. Take lots of pictures and post them. We hope that you'll find the Missouri County Challenge will be more of an adventure than a challenge!
As you're finding geocaches for this challenge, you'll be pleased to learn that you will be making progress towards completion of a challenge we really enjoyed: The Missouri Delorme Challenge!
The log (micro) at the posted coordinates can now be signed prior to completing the challenge. Before logging a find online, however, you must find at least one cache (locationless caches excluded) in each of the 115 counties. Please verify using Project-GC that you qualify prior to posting your found log online. If you would prefer to sign the original nice large log book from when this challenge was first published instead of the micro log at the posted coordinates, please contact us to make arrangements.
Please note, the cache at the posted coordinates is in Platte Ridge Park, which is open from dawn to dusk. Please respect park hours.

We had the honor of witnessing the log being signed by the first finisher of this challenge! We enjoyed hearing about some of Eddie's Missouri caching stories over dinner - he has certainly had some adventures - check out this log! And the photos of the eagles are amazing!
