Facebook Disabled
To take full advantage of Flickr, you should use a JavaScript-enabled browser and
install the latest version of the Macromedia Flash Player .
Apparently, actually using Facebook's Gmail search feature, and inviting a slew of people gets you banned. Somehow, the clicking of a single button doesn't seem like "persistent misuse" [according to email from Facebook]. I guess that's a difference of opinion.
Usability 101 Tip for Facebook - If you're going to let me find people via your Gmail search tool, then don't ban me if I actually go about adding them. At least state the maximum amount of people that can be added at a time, or restrict # of results. Thanks.
What's funny is that Linkedin.com has the same type of functionality, yet actually works as expected, allowing you to invite (all) those whom you have emailed before.

nice. it was perplexing to get the email
notification of the request, then not see it
in facebook.
I'll gladly be your friend, when facebook
decides you're not a threat :)

Dan: Yeah, classic case of poor interaction
design, aka "building it, without
testing it." The auto-ban was
instantaneous, so even the error message is
incorrect, about an "administrator"
having taken action. Obviously, just a poorly
documented, arbitrary cut-off point.

Um, yeah. What he said.
(Glad I looked through 20 pages of Nathan
Smiths, for naught.)
Let us know when it's fixed, I guess.

Wow. That's interesting. The explanation is
off, that is true...
I uploaded a bunch of contacts too, but one
has to wonder, Nathan... just how many people
did you try to stinkin upload??!?!

You know I did the Gmail add thing too - I
must have fallen under the limit! Crazy
stuff.

Well that explains why I can't complete your
request to add me as a friend via facebook.
That is pretty silly and not very user
friendly at all. :-/

That's a good case of "teh suck" in
action.

Facebook account. :D

Yeah man, I was wondering why I couldn't
accept your friend request.

@Chris.Pallé - I had been cutting and pasting
into a text file all the email addresses that
Facebook's Gmail search found (since I
distrust browser sessions). For all those I
was adding, they actually use Facebook, and
I've had email conversations with each person
(wasn't adding total strangers).
I was adding quite a few people (100-ish),
but this is the first time I've ever
attempted to use that utility. I assumed
(incorrectly) if their tool found well over
that many, it'd be safe to add some (not all)
of those it returned.
Classic example of building functionality
that cannot actually be handled by the
system, but not documenting that anywhere.
Confusing to end-user. It made me think I
could add everyone with one fell swoop. I
guess not.

Ha, well this removes some confusion. I
thought your request was just hidden in the
depths of the interface. I actually searched
for a few minutes.
Thats pretty lame.

Good news - My account has been re-activated.
I received the following generic
cut-and-paste email from two Facebook
representatives. Note how descriptive it is,
regarding why I was banned (read: they don't
even know)...
