The same as in other reviews, I would say that this book is fantastic. I read a creative visualisation book many years ago that I liked and I think this might be the updated one. It is so informative, if you are interested in visualisation/meditation and spiritual matters, this is the book for you. It is easy to read and understand and the exercises are wonderful. I have gained a lot from reading this book. It is not a book that I would read from cover to cover in a couple of hits, but I go back to it when I am in the right mood and choose which chapters are relevant. I would highly recommend this.

    Or vice versa.
I first read this book nearly 30 years ago. I was always aware of the power of thought but my thoughts were always erratic and often negative. This book explains things clearly and helps to focus the mind.
This is the type of knowledge that should be part of the school curriculum with lessons dedicated to the teaching of creative visualisation.
This is how we should all live our lives with positive, purposeful, creative manifestation.
Negative or positive, thought is the seed of all realities, consciously or unconsciously we create our lives around us with the power of thought.
This book can show you how to create a positive life. Believe it or don't believe it, the choice is yours.

This is a Lovely book!Having said that I can see how it wouldn't suit everyone... It should be approached with an open mind and I think other personal development groundwork should be done before starting it otherwise it might not reach it's full potential. However... the message is very powerful! It shares general themes with other books of it's ilk but it is apparent that this was one of the very first. The delivery of the message is wonderful and unlike many other books that have jumped on the bandwagon there is no hype and no Bull... do it and it will work, don't if you don't want to! Overall a massively useful tool to anyone who is looking to push their development forward. *

I have been aware of Shakti Gawain for a while and decided to purchase her guide to the visualisation process.
She makes a complex situation straight-forward and I am steadily working my way through her book and doing the exercises as they appear throughout the text.
Shakti has the ability to write with great compassion and I felt that she was addressing me personally which really brought the book alive. Under her expert guidance success cannot be that far away.
If you really want to master the art of Creative Visualisation then this book should be on your bookshelf and I am so glad that I added it to mine.

This is one of the best books on spiritual matters. It's not a vague book full of waffle. It's gives very easy to use visualizations. It is interesting in its teachings. The main lesson I learned is that it is important to 'be', then 'do' the things you want and then 'have' the things you want. Most of us do it the other way around. We feel we must 'have' (i.e. have money, status, a good job) to 'do' the things we want so that we can 'be' happy. This book help you to find time to just 'be' and accept the now.

This is a book that's particularly useful if you don't know anything about visualization whatsoever. Very easy to understand and the exercises are also made in a way that allows you to start right away. As a person who is already a bit familiar with visualization (i.e. I know what the word means and read about it in articles online etc) I didn't get as much as I expected from this book. A few affirmations are useful, and it has the basics (a good reminder)... But I found it a bit repetitive after the first half.

Upbeat, cheerful. Seems like this is an Old Standard from the New Age world, certainly seems to beat more recent stuff for quality of writing and clarity of content. If you buy this along with Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway, and the Louise Hay Collection I think you will have all you need with regard to Mind, Body, Spirit, so save your money and ignore all the rest - they only duplicate these main three. (What a marketing scandal!).

I am very, very late recommending this book:

I first read it in 1994 when trying to embark on a career in high level recruitment: This book gave me the tool to be able to use my imagination to actually visualise what I wanted in a job, career and out of life: At the age of 24 with no qualification to my name, I managed to secure myself a position within recruitment: I carried on reading then book and at the time everything I really put my mind to I could materialise.......This book has been lent out by me on numerous occasions and the people I passed it on to passed it on to other friends and family, so much so I have had to by myself quite a few copies of this over the years: Well worth a read

Gawain's work may be the best audiobook you can listen to for getting started with creative visualization. I had been using the technique Gawain describes for several months before I picked up this audio book. Based on the evolution and refinement of my own personal technique, I found hers to be totally "spot on". I am currently using it to work on a health issue that has plagued me for years and am having phenomenal success with it. My level of success is so great that it makes me wonder about the level of success that can be achieved with non-health related issues (i.e. are there any limitations to the use of this technique?...to which I'm sure Gawain would reply "no").

The technique itself does not require volumes to describe. It is actually quite simple and one can only become a master of it through practice, practice and more practice. Gawain does round out her practical description with some supportive methods that may sound "new age"-like but are definitely important to its efficacy. The most important supportive technique would probably be "affirmations" - verbal mantras that are positive and supporting.

If this book was only about creative visualization, it would be fairly short. As such, Gawain moves on to other, related techniques of affirmation and meditation. She also provides much of the metaphysical background she believes to be the supporting infrastructure to creative visualization. Much of this will sound extremely "new agey" to the average listener. But there is a practical technique here which can be used with great success and one does not have to agree with or even accept the metaphysical material she presents along with it. She even mentions this in the book.

What I find so striking is that not only am I NOT a believer in any metaphysical or "new age" philosophy but my own belief system seems quite antithetical to the description of the "universe" Gawain proposes. A major part of Gawain's view of our reality might be summarized with the following statement: the universe is infinitely bountiful and full of perfect love and people are the purest expression of that perfection. My own "philosophy" might be summarized by stating that the universe sucks and people are the embodiment of everything that is wrong with it. Okay, maybe that's a little harsh. Regardless, the fact that I can use this technique with success is a testament to its practicality and simple effectiveness. Of course, Gawain might say that my "negative" beliefs are purely superficial and not representative of how I truly feel. Still, my ignoring of much of the metaphysical presented here shows how effective creative visualization can be regardless of one's beliefs.

As evidenced by the one-star reviews here, there are people who simply can not "connect" with this technique. This is, I would assume, because the technique (as described), as well as most of the book has a very "new age" sound to it. For some, the practicality of creative visualization gets lost in metaphysical "mumbo jumbo." Perhaps a more popular approach to the technique would be titled "Creative Visualization and Your Stock Portfolio - Visualizing and Realizing 10-Baggers." But if people don't believe in the power of the mind and the power of our subconscious to dictate our experience in this life then why are they even listening to this book? That makes no sense at all! For those who are trapped in their ego, who do not subscribe to the premise that one's entire reality is painted by the endlessly looping program known as the subconscious and who never have experienced success with the technique, how do you convince them of its power? Unfortunately, I don't think you can. At some point, you have to realize that you're being "played" by your subconscious and you want the self-defeating game to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars
