Guardian Camera Club: Samir Malik on autumn colour photography
Samir Malik participates in the autumn colour photography assignment.
This set starts with 'Autumn 1' which looks good enough to eat - the tonality and gorgeous depth of field is really effective. The second image is a nice idea but is too pale, the bright leaf seems burnt out. Generally, trees in a park setting are difficult to photograph well, and the thing to aim for is an elegant formality. Although 'Autumn 3' partially achieves this, the results can still be somewhat visually underwhelming. The combination of trees and playground works well in 'Autumn 4', but the horizon and tree don't appear to be straight. The fifth shot is a bit dull, but 'Autumn 6', although the colours are rather over vivid, is the best of the lot.
