Enjoy Thanksgiving Day With Pyramid Feng Shui!
By: Dr. Gabriele Van Zon
With our Thanksgiving holiday we observe and receive all the benefits
and blessings of the earth element. ‘The closer we can be to the earth
and to nature, the more integrated with life we shall be. People of old
were integrated with their surroundings. The food they ate was freshly
harvested; the objects they made were local, vines to make baskets,
gourds for vessels, straw for mats.’ (Quote from 365 Tao)
We indulge in the bounty of Mother Earth as we gather and nurture
friendship and family relations. Our décor of mums, gourds, corn and
straw are all earth colors. We salivate at the prospect of a crisply
browned turkey with stuffing, butternut squash and pumpkin pie. Yellow
and golds dominate.
Now look to the other elements for checks and balance: perhaps a
round table for metal or rectangular for wood; what about green
placemats and a big salad for more wood; or white napkins and
cauliflower for metal; ambient lighting and candles together with a
splash of red here and there will give you fire. Water might pose a
challenge; think of patterns and fabrics, undulating bows and ribbons,
curly stalks of bamboo or grasses, and, of course, your finest glassware
for beverages.
Best of all, add water by taking a moment of introspection and
gratitude to our forefathers for bestowing us with a tradition that
honors togetherness and the blessings of this earth.
