Margot Johnston: Margot spends most of her time on stage, whether singing, acting or dancing. She has even dabbled in the dangerous world of directing. Being the only girl in the group, she has a fantastic influence upon the group dynamic. Without Margot's womanly presence we would drive each other crazy.
Margot, with her natural, soulful voice plays an essential role in a group of otherwise classically trained voices. Margot can adjust her voice and technique to suit any style of music. In the years before Fronting Vocals the school corridors echoed with the sound of Margot and Sam jamming in a practise room.
Steven Geraghty: Steven has the mental age of a nine year old. If it weren't for Steven's immature jokes and stupid noises we'd probably have twice as many songs by now. Having said that, Steven is a keen composer and always has loads of ideas. He can also sing higher than most dogs can hear. Steven's voice brings an element of individuality into the group's overall sound.
Steven's other passion in life is films, in particulr, ridiculously cheesy films based upon comic books. It is Steven's dream to become a film composer, having already sung on a few soundtracks!
Ben Crawley: Standing at 6ft6 Ben is an inconvenience. He only just manages to squeeze himself into Sam's car but Steven's car is more than a challenge. On top of his height, Ben's wild hair makes him look even more extraordinary. He is also responsible for the group's odd arrangement of sunglasses.
Ben's biggest excitement in life is the voice, namely his own. It is rare for Ben not to be singing, he has even been known to sing in his sleep. Ben's music collection consists of assorted a cappella groups and unknown vocalists. Ben wants to sing till he drops and maybe even pursue a career in singing.
Sam Coates: Sam is the busiest person in the world. Most of his time is spent directing musical productions or re-scoring musical productions. Sam claims to survive on an average of five hours sleep a night!
Sam plays a vital role in the running of Fronting Vocals, without Sam we wouldn't have any pumping bass lines or sexy bottom notes. Sam is also an excellent pianist and a keen composer. With a love for jazz and funk Sam brings a little spice into the songs. But mostly we love Sam for his extremely comfy bed, super studio and extremely understanding family!
Fronting Vocals formed quite by chance. Four teenagers from the mean streets of South London found a mutual interest in music. Whilst most teenagers were out causing mayhem Ben, Sam, Steven and Margot were messing around with microphones. What four show-offs can create from one microphone, a keyboard and a computer is astounding! Lazy afternoons spent jamming in Sam’s bedroom became a hobby. The friends built up a collection of cliché cover songs and funky bass riffs. Ideas flying here, there and everywhere! Along came the summer and the season for hideous Hawaiian shirts. Sunny afternoons spent sipping Pimms in ridiculous sunglasses inspired the groups’ first full song, ‘Pina Colada’. Colourful, cool, and unashamedly camp! The song circulated amongst friends and soon became a favourite at select parties. Friends became fans, and the group began to take themselves much more seriously. Sessions became far more focused. Creativity flourished and the summer encouraged a handful of new tracks. With such a fantastic response from friends and family the next move was to look for a record deal. However, with only a few songs to their credit conquering the music industry seemed improbable. The first move was to agree on a name for the group. Easier said than done! A stressful week of squabbling on msn ended with a simple text message and three replies, ‘Fronting Vocals’, ‘Perfect’, ‘Perfect’, ‘Perfect’. The next move was to take some photos. Everyone round to Ben’s house armed with tacky sunglasses and cheesy grins. It seemed important to tell the record industry a little bit about ‘Fronting Vocals’. The group produced a generic letter to support the photographs. Lastly, burn the songs, print the photos, insert the letter, seal the envelope, add the stamp, write the address, find a post-box, celebrate and play the waiting game. Fronting Vocals are still going strong, encouraged by considerable interest from the major record label EMI. The group meet regularly to write, record and take more stupid photos. It wont be long (only a couple of tracks) until the group can release their debut album. But the group are most excited about the prospect of live performance. Four performers, at heart, can’t wait to take the show on the road. Fronting Vocals: Let’s Get Fronting!
Fronting Vocals would love to hear from you. If you have any comments, suggestions or advice please get in touch. Any feedback would be much appreciated. If not, then spread the love. Tell everyone you know (or even people you don’t know) about the phenomenon that is: Fronting Vocals! Shout really loudly in a public place, prank call strangers, put up posters, write it on the white board at school, telephone radio shows, leave messages in supermarkets, write letters to magazines – Fronting Vocals is for everyone, let’s get it out there!

Was glad to see Steve and Ben in person in Pittsburgh!!! I was so excited when I found out you guys were there when I read the program. Said Sam was there but I didn't see him.
I think that you are so sweet to be there for the boys and to be like big brothers. I was in musical groups when I was in school, and I didn't stay in contact after I had moved, but I know that some life-long friends I've made have come from it so I totally understand how that goes, I just think that it's totally awesome.
I will clap for you any day & always, gahd I'm a goober =P
