A few Questions?

Post by fthein »

Hi

after playing the game the whole day yesterday i have a few questions? Maybe Frank or some of the beta testers can answer them.

- Has a german Corps with a Quality of A the same combat strength then a Turkish one with a Quality of A? ( Beside that they have a different manpower strength)

- As the Central Powers do you need to conquerer Serbia if you want to transport goods to Turkey?

- Is there somewhere a decription of the counters? I haven´t found one in the manual.

- In the diplomatic window when is a country more ready to enter the war? When the green bar is more on the left or on the right side?

- Have the industry points on the map different values? As Turkey for example i have a industry strenght of 3 but on the map there are only 2 industry centers.

Finally i want to say thanks to Frank Hunter and the whole team for creating such a great game. Personally i think that you are one of the greatest wargame designer that we currently have. And i don´t think that the interface in GoA is bad. In comparison to your first games "Napoleon: The Campaigns 1805-1814" and "Road from Sumter to Appomattox" the interface is great[;)]

Bye
Frank

Close but not quite.  A class Turkish troops are the best of that country's force and an A class Germancorps are the best German troops but they are not quite equal.  The Germans have better equipment which is reflected in the manpower strength but also an A class German is an under-the-hood quality of 9 whereas an A class Turkish unit is if I recall an under the hood quality of 7.

- As the Central Powers do you need to conquerer Serbia if you want to transport goods to Turkey?

Yes, there must be a friendly rail line running from Germany to Turkey.  So if Serbia is conquered that would do it.
- Is there somewhere a decription of the counters? I haven´t found one in the manual.

The 3 numbers on the right side of the counter, starting at the top, are strength, readiness and quality.  In the bottom left is the unit identifier.

- In the diplomatic window when is a country more ready to enter the war? When the green bar is more on the left or on the right side?

The bar background is white and as a country gets closer to entering the war the coloured part of it which starts from the left side will get smaller and smaller.

- Have the industry points on the map different values? As Turkey for example i have a industry strenght of 3 but on the map there are only 2 industry centers.

Some industrial hexes have a value greater than 1.

Thank you very much!

IIRC Serbia alone is not enough to get het rail line is it?  Don't you have to wait for Bulgaria to join?  that's how I remember it from the beta's

Yes, that's right.  I always used diplomacy to try to woo Bulgaria to the CP side as soon as I could because they are so handy.

Hi Frank

thanks for the answers. After playing a little more there are a few other questions i have?

- Can you give us a list of which ports belongs to a seazone

- What does the Progress Percentage means in the Research Window?

- How do i safely rebase ships as Germany from the North Sea to the Baltic? Mostly when i rebase ships from Wilhelmshafen to Danzig or Stettin they are intercepted by the British Grand Fleet. Has it something to to with the number of ships i rebase? Because when i rebase only 2 or 3 ships they have a bigger chance of not fighting the British.

- How much manpower does a nation receive each turn?

- Can the Entente ships enter the Baltic or the Black Sea?

- Can you give us a list for the under the hood quality of units for each country?

- I don´t know if this is a bug but the greek units uses the graphics of Holland.

Thanks
Frank

I would have thought that German ships could move through the Kiel Canal risk free in order to shift between N.Sea-Baltic.

I noticed that the city graphics for Florence and Athens are missing. Also, some of the hexes in the Southern Ottoman area don't have a terrain designation. It is fairly easy to tell what terrain is there, but for some reason, the hex number appears when you move the mouse over the hex, but there is no terrain info.

Can anyone tell me the Fortification Level of Constantinople? The number gets cut off in the box because the city name is so long.
