About the Alpine Races
The Alpine Races Half-Marathon is a CARA Circuit Race and a USATF certified course. The 5K Race is a CARA Registered race and a USATF certified course. Challenging courses, run through the streets and along the shores of beautiful Lake Zurich. Gatorade, Water, and time splits will be available along the course. Food and Drinks will be available to participants at the finish line. No dogs, strollers, bikes, rolllerblades or headphones are allowed in the races please. Alpine Races/Runners will not issue refunds for registration made on-line, by mail, or on race weekend.

Premiums/Special Features
Participants in the Half-Marathon and 5k will receive an official high quality 30th Annual SWEATSHIRT (for the first 500 registered runners) available in adult sizes of S, M, L, XL, XXL. Youth Mile and Kiddie race participants will receive a T-shirt in sizes Youth S, Youth M and Youth L. All will receive an official race packet, goodie bag, snacks, and beverages. Post race light Breakfast donated by Good Shephard Hospital.
Pre-Post Race Special
AthletiCo would like to inform you that Complimentary Pre- and Post-Race Stretching will be provided for all Alpine Race Participants at the AthletiCo tent. The nearest AthletiCo facility to the Alpine Races is located in Palatine at the Midtown Athletic Club. Discounts for CARA Members
Current CARA members are eligible for discounts to the 30th Annual Alpine Races. $5.00 discount for Half-Marathon participants. $2.50 discount for 5K participants. CARA membership number is required. NO RACE DAY DISCOUNTS!
Age Groups and Awards
Overall Male and Female in the Half-Marathon and 5k, And age group categories: 14 & Under,15-19,20-24,25-29,30-34,35-39,40-44,45-49,50-54,55-59,60-64,65-69,70-74,75-79, 80 and over AWARDS: Awards will given to the top three male/female in each age category, in each Clydsdale weight category in the 1/2 Marathon (No masters awards), and each youth mile age category
About the 1/2 Marathon Clydesdale Competition
- Sign up and Weigh in on Race Day
Similar to age group categories, the 1/2 Marathon Clydesdale/Athena competition features weight divisions that allow you to race against your peers for awards. MEN - A (170-184) B (185-199) C (200-224) D (225+ lbs.) WOMEN - A (135-144) B (145-154) C (155-169) D (170+ lbs). Awards to all Male & Female Clydesdale/Athena weight divisions: 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. A scale will be available at registration to weigh in.
Registration/Packet Pickup (RACE DAY)
Registration and Packet Pick up for the Alpine Races may be done on the day of the event at the Paulus Park Barn starting at 6:00 am until 7:15 am, prior to the start of the races.
Pre Registration and Packet Pickup
Registration and Packet Pickup will first be available at the Barn in Lake Zurich (same as the race start/finish) on Saturday 9/6/08 from 10 AM to 2 PM. There WILL BE race day packet pick up and registration as well.
How do I get to The Alpine Races?
- FROM CHICAGO/MILWAUKEE: Take I-294 and exit half Day Road (Route 22) and head West. Turn North (right) on Rand Road (Route 12). The entrance to Paulus Park is 1/4 mile on the right.
- FROM THE SOUTH: Take Route 53 North and exit Lake Cook Road-West. Take Lake Cook Road to Rand Rd. (Route 12) and turn North(right. Take Route 12 past Route 22 and turn right into the entrance to Paulus Park. Approximately 1/4 mile North of Route 22.
- FROM THE NORTHWEST: Take Rand Road South. Turn left into entrance to Paulus Park. Approximately 1/4 mile North of Route 22.
Where can I park?
Parking is free and ample. Look for the volunteers with arrow signs.
Is there Gear Check?
A secure area will be reserved for gear check inside the Paulus Park Barn, located near the registration area. We are not responsibile for valuables left in gear check.
When can I get my Race Results?
Results are immediately available the day of the race by DRKomputing. Online race results will be available at www.alpinerunners.com, www.cararuns.org, www.chicagoaa.com and www.drkomputing.com.
