I just got back from CodeMash 2007, what a great time. CodeMash is a conference put on for developers, by developers. The conference includes a variety of languages including .Net, Java, Ruby and more. The best part of the conference is being able to get exposure to some of the topics that are hot in the other languages. Many times we attend conferences specific to our own core skills, but rarely get a chance to experience the other languages. This conference provide just such an experience. I was able to build on my own core set while learning more about .Net and Ruby.
I have to say for a conference thought up and pulled together by a handful of developers, rather than companies, the CodeMash leadership really did a great job. Even before I got there I was thinking about the logistics of pulling this conference off. They brought in three well known keynote speakers, provided 6 meals, discounted room rates and low cost admission. It was a great event that I’m looking forward to next year. I would highly suggest attending or even putting your own on.
While I’m not affiliated with either the CodeMash Leadership or the sponsors I do want to thank the sponsor for their contributions. I enjoyed CodeMash 2007 and I know the conference could not have happened without them. Special thanks to: Microsoft, IBM, Developer Express, Quick Solutions, AWH, NUSoft, Pilar, Compuware, ISM, DataDynamics, SRT Solutions, Perficient, QuickLoans, ThoughtWorks, Stout Systems, Sun Microsystems, MacB, IT Enlightenment, Sogeti, O’Reilly, Judd Solutions, Wiley Publishing, Zend Technologies, Apress, Adobe and PayByCash.
