This really is a fun exercise. I hope I feel the same way when day 14 gets
here!

There are no restrictions on what mediums or tools you use. All avenues are
open. Good luck, Jeanne!

I built this site today to quickly show off some of our work later this
week.

I'll be uploading to the SITO.org artchive.
This will keep me honest, because each entry will be time-stamped by
a foreign host over which I have no control. The first entry is
dated 1/7 because the server is on Central Time, and I posted at
11 pm Pacific--I'm living in Southern California.
I can't take credit for the website's design or color scheme.
That's probably just as well, since an adg regular recently called
me color blind when critiquing my web design. ;-)

Links, please, Jeanne. I'd love to see 'em. Especially the icons.

Painter 6 here. The last version before the New & Improved Engine.
I'll upgrade to Painter 8 when I buy a new PowerMac (could be any
day now--this old G3 is five years old) and start using OS X.
> but it still worked just fine.
Yeah, I survived using Photoshop LE for years. Versions 2.5.1, 4,
and 5. Now I use the full version of Photoshop 6. Academic--I took
a course at the local university extension.
> I'd probably be overwhelmed with the latest version of Painter
Worth the effort of exploring and learning how to use it. Remind me
to explore and learn how to use it. ;-)
It's in a class all by itself. A weird hybrid. Unique. A RAM hog,
but if you've got a gig of RAM, no problem.

I've got an external hard disk with Linux PPC on it... GIMP. That's
short for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It has got some gnarly
filters.
> (I use the PC mostly for Flash). By the way, is Flash allowed?
When I buy the new PowerMac, I'm gonna purchase the whole Macromedia
suite (Academic) and take a course in Flash at the local university
extension. Maybe a refresher course in Dreamweaver, too.

I hope I feel the same way when the end of a quarter of Flash,
Dreamweaver and intermediate Photoshop rolls around!
OK - but please don't look at the rest of my site, I decided I'd rather do the
14 days thing than redesign my site! That will be my next project.

and

My Actuate client tells me the icons look great in the application. I never see
them in use, only as poor little things standing by themselves in a web browser
window. I'm on the east coast, and they're on the west coast. The time
difference works in my favor though. ;)
<< Now I use the full version of Photoshop 6. >>
Photoshop is my absolute fav tool, even though I do like Painter. I've been
using Photoshop since V1. Before layers were around.
<< That's short for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It has got some gnarly

Last night I discovered some sort of hatching filter in Illustrator. So many
filters, so little time.
<< When I buy the new PowerMac, >>
Yes, when I buy that beautiful $2,500 25" monitor.... dreamin'.
Jeanne
Those icons are unreal! I wish I knew how to make them :o(
And the rest of your site looks good too! Very clean, nothing to be ashamed
of Jeanne. You're a very creative person.
Thanks. I've only been doing them since June 2002, with each project I seem to
learn or see something new. The two books I bought back then are:
Icon Design, Steven Caplin
The Icon Book, Horton
They have both been helpful, but working a project is what will help you the
most. I believe some companies think all graphic designers are capable of icon
design. At least Engage did, the first company I did icon work for. And I did
hyper ventilate when that client said create them at 16x16. He tricked me to
start with 20x20, and then he said they needed 16x16 afterall. Kind of funny.
I think really good layout and design is tons tougher.
<< You're a very creative person. >>
Thank you very much. !!
Jeanne
Great thanks Jeanne, I'll put them on my wish list ;o)

I believe that.

You're welcome ;o)
