Has anyone had experience with setting run as client identity in the
deployment descriptor of a CMP EJB on WAS 3.0 ? I hear that DB2 will
support row level security and I was hoping that this would be a good
(ie no coding required) way of filtering the data returned by the finder
methods based on security permissions.

Would this be a viable approach ?

Sadly, this won't work.

WS does not project the user identity to the database. The bean knowns
the users identity and could potentially do what it needs, but WS won't
tell the DB and do it "magically".

What is the best API to use to determine the user's identity ? I guess that we
(me and the developer I'm helping) are going to have to code this stuff
manually.
