ART Tube MP Studio Mic PreampOverall: 8.64

Improving upon ART's popular Tube MP.

The original Tube MP made pro-caliber tube preamping available to ordinary musicians and home studios. The MP Studio goes a step further by adding a VU meter for better level control and ART's OPL (Output Protection Limiter), which controls and maintains the output peak signal to protect hard-disk recording systems and soundcards. The VU meter reflects the impact of the OPL circuitry when it is activated, which allows more effective fine tuning of the audio signal. It is a valuable tool for recording in project and home studios and can also function as a DI box with impedance matching and preamplification for line-level sources. Includes a 3-year warranty.

Every guitarist on Earth needs to get one of these! It warms up the tone of your guitar with vintage tone and it's dirt cheap. I don't play without one now. Excellent as a DI box. Very rugged metal construction. Buy one!

I just got it today, and compared it on my clean setting of my guitar, with and without the preamp... It does the job of making it sound warmer, clearer, and fuller. For this price its great.

Bought two for my fledgling home studio. One was noisy. Replaced both tubes with Sovtechs cost as much as the preamp & noise went away. Good value and a small improvement in sound.

Amazing? Not really. Its not an Avalon preamp or anything but good for the price? Absolutely! I bought two of them and just tried it out today and it really warms up acoustic guitar nice and works great as a DI. I also tried it for electric guitar, it wasnt as nice as the acoustic but still warmed it up abit. I mean for the price why not? I'll definetely get my moneys worth so I would for sure recommend it if you're on a tight budget and want to warm up your sound.

I bought two of these because the reviews were good and the price very low. It was a mistake because they are much too noisy for recording even for a cheap di. I've tried them on several accoustic guitars and from a mic to a video cam. The noise is too much. Might work in live music but not for recording.
