Uses: The Fieggen Shoelace Bow produces a normal bow with fewer steps than the usual technique. It is easily learned and provides a quick, convenient alternative.

Origin: Ian Fieggen describes it as the Ian Knot on his Shoelace Website.

Structure: After the usual half hitch, two loops are prepared. They are formed with each loose end adjacent to the neighboring shoelace hole, i.e., one loose end is in front and the other is behind. The result is a pair of loops essentially similar to a clove hitch. The difference is that the loops are NOT twisted under each other as for a clove hitch. The loops are passed inside each other as shown which results in the normal Square (Reef) Knot Bow.

Shoelace Lock Knot: To reduce the chance of this knot sipping undone, add a Lock Knot.
