Who Compares, Wins
Well... stupid because it's stupid to compare a FPS with a "Tactical Espionnage Action" ( © Kojima) and with a funky Naughty Dog game.
But... i think it's fun, no war here.
Just to compare the biggest PC game of 2007-2008 with two of the biggest PS3 games of 2007-2008.

Technically, Crysis is a beast, but i think that MGS4 and Uncharted still have THE art direction (IMHO).
The lighting in Crysis looks so real... (like in GTHD), but the lighting in Uncharted and MGS4 is so gorgeous and charming.
Crysis has got the very high rez' textures, but Uncharted will have incredible characters animations, an MGS4 will have an incredible AI.
Different approaches.

Certainly three big games. Peace.

Hey, Let's compare various builds of questionable footage of largely unrelated games on seperate platforms, that'll make for some sweet discussion.

NARUTO WOULD SOOOO PWN GOKU.

The PS3 shots actually serve the system well in the lighting department, but Crysis slaughters them in detail.

You did find some nice pictures to compare to each other.

How big would be the gap in like 4 years? As big as PS3/X360 to Wii? Or even bigger?

My fanboy pee-pee measurer must preface this by pointing out that MGS4 will be much better game than Crysis, as MGS3 was to Far Cry, but it can't compare graphically. It's actually kind of disappointing to me from technical point of view. Still great art though.

Uncharted's advantage will become much clearer when everything actually moves.

Over Crysis? Well-animated or not, it's not even in the same league as Crysis with respect to detail.

And I love the way Uncharted looks. One of the best looking games on any console.

Crysis is an unfair control cause it only runs on supacomputas and they cost like 125 grand!

Aren't they 2 different types of games?

Which looks better, Lair or LBP?

IMHO MGS4 -almost- holds it's own against Crysis, however, when the physics starts moving Crysis just blows everything else out of the water (including your current rig).

Looking forward to seeing some screens of the the alleged "jungle zone" in MGS.

Whenever I turn on Discovery HD I say to myself, "This looks more real than real life." Crisis gives me the same vibe, now if they could get rid of the plastic look over some plants and make the humans look more real. Maybe next-gen.

edit; I hope people aren't serious, Crysis recommends 1.5 GB of RAM to play smoothly, there's no way PS3 can compete.

MGS4 looks almost monochrome, everything is brown and grey.
That's my problem with it. Though I don't see it as that big of a deal, considering that all the media's pretty much from the same area. I hope to God the whole game doesn't look like that though.

Jesus, Crysis is even better than the Uncharted concept render (first pic with the jeep). That's just not fair. :lol PEACE.

How is Crysis able to look so good? It's not really a hardware thing because they said it would run decently on a Core 2 / X2 cpu and a high end DX9 card like 7900gtx. I guess it's a memory thing? With PC's having so much more memory than consoles for more textures. The Crysis engine devs must be some of the best in the world.

well Vista recommends 2 GB of RAM to run smoothly... and Directx-10 Crysis must run on top of it too so.. 4 GB confirmed?

:lol

There is no advantage. Crysis pwns it on the right machine. end of story.

Don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying Uncharted looks better than Crysis, I'm just saying that Uncharted's biggest graphical feature is the actual animation and how it flows.

It's not even safe to say MGS4 looks as good as many of those pics anymore. It's also not fair to compare cause MGS4 may be as linear as previous MGS games, it may have highly static environments. Crysis does not. The Naughty Dog comparison is fairer. Crysis wins.

Uncharted certainly has my attention. Is there any info out on how it'll play?

Combat is kinda like Gears in that there is a actual cover system. Jumping is like Zelda in that it's automatic depending on ledge..etc. The control is supposed to feel really responsive but still have a feeling of weight and realism to it. Every time you lean up against a wall or do whatever it looks different. If you run a lot the main character will start shaking, breathing hard and whatnot. 3000 separate animation for the main character when the game ships compared to Jak which had 200.

Didn't they show some melee combat stuff in the first demo video? Is it more like an action-adventure or a third person shooter?

I really like the monochrome look.

Personally I think MGS4 looks better than Crysis :)
I've always been a sucker for colors and high saturation. I probably played too many Nintendo games. I like green trees, blue skies... stuff like that.
Brown and grey worked fine for the atmosphere in games like Gears of War and Resident Evil 4. I haven't seen 300, but i'm sure it worked for that movie.

I'm not so sure about that - knowing ND, the animations will be amazing.

graphics and physics easily go to Crysis, but I honestly don't think it'll be close when it comes to animations - that's where ND has always shined.

Small, squished screens ftw!

There is lots that those screens don't show that an hd video would. It's not just textures.

Crysis wins.

:lol I didn't know that was a render. Awesome.
