Dr. Ashok Kothari Re-Elected Hon. Secretary of BNHS

Dr Ashok Shantilal Kothari, one of the two members of the Palanpuri community to be elected to the Executive Committee of the 125-year old Bombay Natural History Society has been unanimously elected as Honorary Secretary of the Society for a second term.  The other community member on the committee is Ashish Kothari. Both are well known environmentalists and naturalists and have written extensively on these subjects. They were among the 12 successful candidates out of the 26 who contested.

Living Jewels from the Indian Jungle, a coffee table book on Himalayan wildlife co-authored by Dr Ashok Kothari was released last year.

The Bombay Natural History Society is today the largest non-government organisation (NGO) in the Indian subcontinent engaged in nature conservation research. In the 125 years of its existence, its commitment has been, and continues to be, the conservation of India's natural wealth, protection of the environment and sustainable use of natural resources for a balanced and healthy development for future generations.
