During November 2007, TCO Development tested 10 mobile phone models sold on the Swedish market to examine whether they met the radiation (emissions) and ergonomic requirements defined in our TCO'01 Mobile Phones labelling system.
Of the models tested, 5 were purely GSM telephones and 5 were designed both for GSM and the 3G network.¹ Three of the phones – the Nokia E90, Sony Ericsson P1i and Samsung SGH-i600 – are PDAs with mobile telephone functions ("smartphone") and a keyboard specially adapted for handling text.
The results of the test show that two of the telephone models meet all radiation and ergonomic requirements and can be recommended:
One telephone model met the emitted radiation but not all the ergonomic requirements. Seven telephones failed to meet the radiation requirements and one of these also failed to meet the ergonomic requirements.
