Palanpur Samaj Kendra - Women's Forum hosted a cookery demonstration on dishes that can be prepared with the biggest excitement of an Indian summer -- the mango. The programme, held on April 20, 2010 at Shanti Bungalow, Mumbai was conducted by Ms Alka Phadnis, the head of ETV Marathi cookery show 'Mejwani Paripoorna'.
Ms Phadnis enjoys cooking authentic, nutritious and easy to make recipes. She has won many awards at the state and national level competitions. She demonstrated recipes as diverse as drinks like Mango Kiwipine and Mango Colada, main course like Mango Rice, Raw Mango Kadhi and Mango chutney and topped it off with a delicious Mango Cheese Cake. In all the recipes, except the raw mango kadhi, she made use of the ripe hapus mangoes.
In Hindu mythology mango is known as the food of the gods. Beyond being delicious and rich in vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants, mangoes have the digestive properties and can really make you feel better!!
