Nottingham Panthers bring in forward Jeff Heerema

Jeff Heerema
Heerema has played in Germany and in Austria

Nottingham Panthers have signed former NHL first-round draft pick Jeff Heerema until the end of the season.

The Canadian forward, 30, has also played in Germany and most recently in the top flight in Austria and could make his Panthers debut this weekend.

Panthers player coach Corey Neilson said: "Jeff would be an asset to any team in the Elite League.

"He has great numbers in some of the top leagues, he played in the NHL and he will be a scoring threat."

Heerema played in the NHL for Carolina who drafted him in 1998 and also for St Louis and spent six seasons in the AHL.
