Nikon preparing to announce two new mirrorless cameras according to Nikon Germany’s official website

Many of the regular [NR] readers will remember this post from April last year when several Nikon websites in Europe had a placeholder for a new Nikon camera – a month later the Nikon Z8 camera was announced:

Another curiosity: Nikon Germany lists ten mirrorless cameras on their website, but there are currently only nine Z models

We now have a similar situation with Nikon Germany – if you go to the mirrorless section of the website, you will find a total of 9 current mirrorless cameras listed, but the total number of cameras on the top and bottom of the page is listed as 11 – this means Nikon already has placeholders for two new, not yet announced cameras:

We already know that one of the new cameras will be the Nikon Z6III. I have no idea what the second Z camera will be, but I think it only makes sense to have a new APS-C model together with the Z6III since I have not heard any rumors about a new Z7III. Of course, I could be wrong with that assumption. Logically, Nikon should announce both the Z6III and Z7III together – that makes complete sense and matches their previous release patterns. Again, just because I have not heard of a new Z7III it does not mean it is not coming.

Now also the Nikon Z6 camera is listed as discontinued in Japan
