I don't care if voting for Night Time makes me a populist know-nothing...it's my favorite.

The first self-titled is probably the best, but I listen to Pandemonium the most, so my vote goes to that one.

_Killing Joke 2003_ draws me back time and again. It totally encapsulates my feelings as a liberal Democrat in America under Shrub.

i wonder WHO is gonna vote for outside the gate -- you KNOW it's gonna happen in this place.

I've never even heard _Outside The Gate_. I even like _Brighter Than A Thousand Suns_. Maybe I should sample OTG, just to see what's what?

I'll vote for What's THIS for.. just because it sounded like their second debut album. I vividly remember hearing the first two records for the first time. Very special moments in my musical upbringing. They never again came anywhere close to that in my opinion, but that's still twice more than almost every other band.

I went for my sentimental favorite Extremities. Might not be their best, but it was the first I heard.

Another populist vote for Night Time from me! The Joke on the pop charts, blowing my teenage mind. I used to look at the TV and go, 'My God, how cool is Geordie and how ugly is Jaz'.

What album is "A New Day" on? I guess I vote for the New Day 12".

Wait ("Wait"), is there also a version of the debut without "Change"? Was that the original one? -- as in, was "Change" added after the original release, or what? (I also have a "Change"/"Requiem" 12-inch on my shelf somewhere, so it was obviously the single. Wasn't it a small hit at new wave dance clubs at the time?)

Not on any album (although you can inexplicably find an extended mix of it on the odds n' sods collection, Wilfull Days. That said, it will probably be appended to the re-release of NightTime which is slated for later this year (after many delays).

UK debut did not originally include "Change." US version did.

Oh...so hard for me...but, I'm going to go with the one that I've probably listened to the most out of them all, which is Night Time. However, the debut, What's THIS for...! and Revelations make a close second.

3rd album is the one. I was at a gig the other week to see some local 'rock band' they were competent but just basically pointless, I spent the time musing to myself that I should storm the stage armed with a set of powerpoint slides and do a presentation to the audience (and the band) about Killing Jokes 3rd.

I picked up Brighter Than a Thousand Suns for cheap, and I've been enjoying it. Doesn't sound at all like Killing Joke, but it's pretty cool mid 80s gothy synthpop.

I mean it's a nice album, but it's not got the compelling creepy paranoia of the 1st album, the simmering barely controlled rage of the 2nd, or the, erm, simmering, slightly more controlled rage but with added creepy paranoia of the 3rd one.

Night Time was the one that recruited me, so to speak.
