Biography

My professional career began in commercial photography. I worked in various photo studios from 1984 until about 2002. Photography is - and has always been - something I enjoy on a personal level as well as a professional one. My self-education in digital imaging began with Photoshop 2.5 in the early 1990's. My involvement with web began in the mid-nineties.

Born and raised in Toronto, I teach imaging, web design and photography at Centennial College's Centre for Communication, Media and Design( http://www.thecentre.centennialcollege.ca). Teaching and photography are two things I have always loved doing and I have been fortunate to be at the college since the early 1990's teaching in a part-time capacity. I'm a partner in communications company, Newmedia Services (http://www.newmediaservices.ca), specializing in the things that I teach. I owe part of my creative growth and interest in new endeavors to a dear friend. Her encouragement and support and faith in what I could do have been an added strength to me, even when I was unsure. I thank her for keeping me "young" among other things.

If shirts could speak, mine would carry a megaphone. Extra large double/double from Tim's, and a Cinnamon-raison bagel with cream cheese is my breakfast of choice - cuz I can eat it in the car, and be fully alert by the time my 8:30 a.m. class begins.

While I haven't written any books, I'm a regular contributing partner to Community MX, where I've written enough articles and tutorials for Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and other general web topics to fill a book or two. I’ve also written some photo-related pieces

Speaking Engagements

I have been a guest speaker at TODCON’s '03, '04 '05 and ‘06. I alsospoke at DesignFest '05, held in Toronto in November of 2005. I also do photo lighting seminars for Booth Photographic on a regular basis.
