Right!
First off, a few pictures of the work I had done previous to this new period of enthusiasm:
WIP Tigurius:
Those metallics will definitely need dulling down at some point.
Colour Test Guardsman:
I should paint his face and hands up really, looks too contrasting at the moment.
Now, onto the future. The work I've been doing on my Titan is in
it's own thread, as per usual.
Here is my airbrush "kit" (hose is in the box for those wondering):
I've only used the gravity feed brush thus far, but the results seem fine to me. This should save me loads of time on my vehicles. It remains to be seen if I will deploy it against infantry!
Here's a little sample of the base coating I've done:
It really seems to be making gaps and mould lines show up in a disturbing fashion, that's something I will really have to look into in future.
The other things I base coated were two drop pods (one of which needs touching up):
This approach also had the unexpected benefit that when I opened them up, it seems all I need to do is Boltgun Metal the interiors and touch up a few bits of blue, and I'm 2/3 of the way there to having them painted (interior detail is a must as I always insist on opening up my pods, much to the chagrin of my opponents who often complain about the ramps squashing their models)!
Now, onto more serious matters - me forming some kind of plan to have a decent amount of models painted. I'll willingly admit that I'm awful at painting - I could do with more practice to get better technique, but the main thing I'm awful at is actually making the time to do it.
I enjoy converting a lot more, and I love gaming when I can set aside the time, but as much as I enjoy painting whilst I'm doing it, and like seeing the results, preparing for it and cleaning up afterwards feels like a terrible chore.
To that end, and to show the scale of my laxity, here is a shot of the shelving unit which contains most of my miniatures:
Raven Guard and Tanith Scouts? I hear you cry... well no. Lazy painter.
I'm putting up these shots in the hope that in a year or so I will be able to come back and put some new ones up, showing a decent amount of them painted (though I'm not even considering 50% of them or anything like that - I'm a realist you know)!
What I want to do next, to help get me moving, is something I really should have done a long time ago. I'm going to find the time to write up a 1500pt list for each of my armies, and try to get each one painted, then once painted, play with them as soon as possible. Once I've done that, I'll write up a 2000 pt list for each one, and get them up to that, then play them again.
I'm hoping this approach will keep me going rather than letting me slide into laziness again.
For those interested, here are some slightly closer up shots of my shadowy forces:
Ultramarines:
Top shelf is the First Company and Chapter Command, next one is the Second Company, and the third contains elements of the Reserve and Scout Companies as well as the Armoury.
Agents of the Imperium (thank you Apocalypse Rulebook) and Tank Company:
For the top shelf, left to right, we have my Vulture Gunship (clunky old full resin version, hence the ridiculously large base; Grey Knights at the front and Inquisitors at the back (battle plan right there) and my Warhound, Lupus Ultio, on the right (oh and yes, my Daemonhunters are based out of Ultramar, so they are appropriate to be acting in warzones with the Ultramarines and Ultramar Guard Regiments).
Underneath are my Baneblade and Shadowsword, as well as my Leman Russ contingent.
Ultramar Guard:
As you can guess, lots of infantry and some tanks! The bottom shelf has my basilisks on as well as some of my Planetstrike Scenery.
Once I have decided on which lists I will be using for each force, I will post them and some pictures of the unpainted models, then I will try my best to keep chipping away at them and keep this WIP updated (I know I said that last time however).
Thoughts?
