Lite Edit is text editor with all the features useful for programming and no features or options you don't need. It has customizable syntax highlighting and comes with syntax highlighting already configured for many programming languages. Other features include a configurable tools menu, bookmarks, multilevel undo/redo, customizable hotkeys, and auto indenting. Version 2 has word wrap, printing, and more whitespace options.

Version: Lite Edit 2

"Works."

Pros: It works just fine, particularly with SmartFTP, which is what I needed. I tried this to replace my beloved SYN text editor, so it compares unfavorably only because I want SYN to work. Has line numbers and is mostly easy to figure out.

Cons: The editing window text is small; I have not found a way to adjust that. I did not figure out how to set up the syntax color coding and I am afraid it might be something you have to do each time you start editing. They are supposed to be already set up...
