For Your Success - Resources For Life Is Up And Running Again

"A New Path" - A JacksonPollock.org creation by The Success Coach

You could look at this as a relaunch of For Your Success - Resources For Life.

My plan, at this point, is to get back to what the site was about when it was launched, to serve as a resource for businesses, to provide meaningful content for people to improve the quality of their life and to provide me with a personal platform.

I've gone through and deleted more than half the posts that ran, including all the Pay Per Post spots. I don't see Pay Per Post as something that is going to be part of For Your Success in the future so it makes no sense to continue carrying those posts.

I considered wiping out everything and starting anew, but that, I concluded, was too extreme a move. There is more renovation to be done and I'll continue working on that.

With that, I say...welcome back and I look foward to seeing you again.

Bad Service At Fast Food "Restaurants" Result In Messes Being Left Behind

I have long been disenchanted with fast food "restaurants".

It seems next to impossible to get anything special ordered at a drive through to come out as it was requested. The chance of getting it right when you walk in and get it to go isn't much better.

The trifecta is that it's a safe bet orders will come out wrong more often than not when you special order eating in.

I can write posts from now through 2009 detailing experiences of bad "service" at fast food "restaurants". Experience speaking to supervisors, managers and owners would account for just as many horror stories.

There are times, unfortunately, when circumstances necessitate eating anywhere other than fast food "restaurants". Recently, I reached my breaking point with frustration about bad service at these places.

Now, when I get food that is not as I ordered it, worse when I get bad service, I make a mess in the restaurant. The worse the service, the worse the mess.

I've taken hands full of napkins, torn them up while I ate and either left them lying on the table or thrown them on the floor. If there's a ketchup dispenser, I open the spout and let the ketchup run on the counter; if they give ketchup packets I put theme on the floor and stamp on them with my foot; I open packages of sugar and spread it on top of the table; I spill soft drinks on the counter, on the floor and in the seat of the booth when I get up to leave.

The other thing I do is to waste things like coffee stirrers, lids, forks/knives/spoons, salt and pepper packets and anything else that's available to take.

When I leave I drop a business card on the table informing management that the mess was left equating with the level of customer service I received. Thus far I haven't received a follow-up call or email.

Progressive Dinner Blog Carnival A HugeSuccess!

Kilroy_60's Soup to Nuts progressive dinner blog carnival, that debuted on January 30th, was a huge success. There were 215 posts appearing in the first edition; spread over six host blogs.

Soup to Nuts is the only blog carnival constructed in a progressive dinner format, with multiple hosts. Originally created as a five-course dinner, the introductory edition was so successful a sixth "course" was added; it was called the Drinks After Dinner Reception.

Some bloggers appeared in a single portion, others had posts appearing in all six.

The idea behind Soup to Nuts was two-fold, according to the originator.

"My intention was to maximize the opportunity to gain exposure for individual blogs and to increase the chance of meeting other bloggers," said Kilroy_60.

"As with any website, individual blogs attract their own organic traffic. Appearing in a carnival with a number of hosts allows your site to be seen by a wider variety of people than a carnival with a single host," he said, explaining the use of a progressive dinner concept.

Kilroy_60 said, "Formally connecting the carnivals as a single event provides incentive to visit all the host blogs. It's different than holding multiple carnivals in the same day with each one having a different theme."

Isabella Mori hosted one portion of the carnival at Change Therapy.

"I thought it was a great idea! I'm a huge fan of carnivals - many of my blog connections came about through carnivals," Mori said. "I like mixing things up: trying out something that happens face-to-face in an online environment, and vice versa. All of this came together beautifully in this carnival."

Another host, WriterWoman from fallen words, saw the carnival as an opportunity for good publicity.

She said, "I thought it was an idea that had the ability to create a buzz. The Progressive Dinner Blog Carnival idea is one that sparked of originality and a real sense of fun."

JM, who hosted the dessert course at Fiction Scribe, said, "I thought it was a bit of a big undertaking, but a very creative idea that could hold big things."

She was happy with the results.

"I think it worked out splendidly," said JM. "I had a fun time looking at the other courses, and I also had a lot of lovely comments on my course."

WriterWoman was impressed by the entrants and how the event was received.

She said, "All in all, I would call the Soup to Nuts Progressive Dinner a rousing success! The variety of posts submitted was amazing. Bloggers from all over the world, with a myraid of different backgrounds and interests, all had their work on display together. All walks of life were represented. It was a truly inclusive event."

Asked if he was satisfied with the event, Kilroy_60 said, "I thought for the first time it was very successful. Some people don't know what a progressive dinner is; having them understand how a carnival works in such a structure can be challenging."

Mori agreed. She said, "I honestly think it was a great success. "

Authors of some established, well known blogs were represented. Some bloggers who participated are relatively new.

The blogs appearing in the carnival were praised by Mori. She said, "I was quite surprised at the quality of the posts and am excited to stay in touch with some of the bloggers I've met through this."

I was pleased to take part in the first edition of Soup To Nuts. The second progressive dinner carnival is being organized now to be published on April 30th. For Your Success will again take part; I encourage you to do so as well. (Enter)

All platforms do not provide an easily accessible profile as blogger does. Even some blogspot sites do not include such a page. Those considerations prohibited linking to some bloggers while some pages linked to are less than optimum.

An Introduction To Blog Carnivals

Sponsored By For Your Success
{Please scroll down to review each of
the Gonzo Blog Carnivals individually...
}

An INTRODUCTION TO BLOG CARNIVALS

If you are new to the blog carnival scene we offer this very brief explanation of what a blog carnival is.

A blog carnival is an "event" where a host blog accepts links to posts from other bloggers. The host then crafts the submissions into a single post and publishes it on their blog on a predetermined date.

Again, briefly, this provides a number of blogs with the opportunity to gain exposure at one time. Visitors will go to the host blog to view the carnival and be able to click through to links provided by each blogger participating in the carnival.

Some of the benefits an individual blogger can gain from participating in a blog carnival are...
  • Meeting new bloggers who attend the carnival and see their post
  • Having more traffic coming to their blog on the day of the carnival
  • Regularly getting more visits as a result of participating in the carnival
  • Receiving more comments
  • Receiving offers of link exchanges
Remember that this a simplistic explanation of the process and the benefits.

A REVIEW OF THE GONZO BLOG CARNIVAL SERIES

These are the carnivals we've had since January, 2007...

There was extensive promotion of this, the first, carnival on the Blog Shares website. The players simply did not respond. Those who play Blog Shares, it turned out, are interested in playing Blog Shares, not blogging.

The Gonzo B$ Carnival was hosted by For Your Success. There were 7 entries.

Dirty Butter hosted the second carnival at Blog Village News. The Family Carnival was an unqualified success. As a result Blog Village launched its own carnival series. There were 47 entries.

The third carnival was hosted by Kilory_60, the originator of the Gonzo Blog Carnival Series. It was a Gonzo FREE FOR ALL where participants could choose any post they wanted to share. There were 39 entries.

The Free For All was followed-up by our first DOUBLE FEATURE; the fifth and sixth GONZO carnivals. These carnivals were specialized, featuring poetry and photography.

On the same day we had the Gonzo Poetry Slam hosted by Poets Who Blog and the Gonzo Photography Carnival hosted by Points of Light. There were 44 total entries.

The sixth event was called A Gonzo World Carnival. Bloggers from around the world participated in this event { hosted by ...Save.Save.Save... } that had 13 entries.

The Gonzo Education Carnival was our seventh event. There were 18 entries in this carnival that appeared on the blog of an experienced carnival host at Principled Discovery.

Cattails: Adventures of A Very Bad Cat hosted the Gonzo Relationships Carnival, our eighth event, that attracted 19 entries.

There were 14 entries in the Gonzo Meme Carnival, our ninth, hosted by The Lives and Times....

The Friends of Kilroy Carnival, which was the 10th in the series, had 17 entries. Bloggers linked to Kilroy's The Gonzo Papers were invited to patricipate. It was hosted by Queen of Pentacle's Blog.

The first Gonzo Blog Rodeo had 9 entries when it was hosted by Advertising For Success. It was our 11th carnival. Gonzo Blog Rodeo II was our 12th and it was hosted by An Aspiring Romance Writer; there were 10 entries. The theme of the rodeos was blogs, bloggers and blogging.

England Goes GONZO! was the 13th carnival in the series. This carnival, hosted by Diary From England, featured posts related to England. It had 21 entries.

Our first joint venture was carnival number 14. We teamed with Home Turf Media to present Carnival of Cities Goes GONZO! at Kilroy's The Gonzo Papers. This carnival had 24 entries and again included bloggers from across the United States and around the world.

Carnival number 15 was a celebration of Kilroy_60's two-year blogiversary; it was hosted at The Gonzo Papers. The BLOGIVERSARY BASH! had 36 entries.

For Your Success Supports Stopping The War In Iraq

George W. Bush has not defined what constitutes victory for The United States of America in Iraq. Given that, victory is impossible.

This blog is dedicated to success. The occupation of Iraq, by The United States of America and its allies, is the definition of failure.

Lives of Americans are being taken every day for no reason other than that George W. Bush has made a choice to be at war in Iraq.

The electorate spoke last November loud and clear. The citizens of The United States of America demanded a change of policy in Iraq.

The President has ignored that decision and the members of his defeated party are blocking the action the American people clearly want to see.

It is the position of for Your Success that the war in Iraq is wrong. Withdraw of combat troops should begin immediately.

If George W. Bush and the Republican Party continue to pursue executing the war in Iraq it is our position that the United States Congress should cut off funding for the war.
