ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Police are searching for three men who they said attacked a 78-year-old man with a mental disability and ransacked his Elizabeth Township home.Police said the intruders broke into Jack Junn's apartment on Conroy Street in the Buena Vista neighborhood.Junn has a learning disability and an eighth-grade education, according to police.
He had bruises to his arms, legs, ribs and abdomen, police said."They sneaked behind the back of my legs and the other one pushed me over," said Junn. "They never punched me. They kicked me in the ribs."Police believe two of the home invaders were white men, and one was black. All three are believed to be between 20 and 25, and they were able to get into the apartment by telling Junn they were hungry and needed to use the phone, police said.Police said the men tied up Junn and robbed him of $91 before pelting him with eggs and pouring water and laundry detergent on him and his belongings. Before the men left, they slashed the tires of Junn's bicycle, which he rode 14 miles round-trip daily to the Round Hill Cemetery to tend to graves and cut grass.Junn was unable to go to the Bell Chapel United Methodist Church to ring a bell before Sunday services. It was the first time in 66 years Junn was not able to make it.Neighbors told WTAE Channel 4 Action News they are outraged by the attack on Junn, who they said is known around town by his nickname, "Mayor of Buena Vista."Friends have installed a deadbolt on Junn's front door. Local firefighters bought him a new bike and furniture to replace what was broken in the home invasion."I really actually got sick in the stomach," said Elizabeth Township business owner Dennis Tressler."I was angry," said Elizabeth Township resident Karen Davenport. "I was really angry about it. He didn't deserve it at all. ""He's an old man," said Elizabeth Township resident Francis Flanigan. "He don't bother nobody. It's a shame you got to have stuff like that around here."Junn said he will be back at church this Sunday to ring the bell.
