Custer Week 2007 will be filled with fun and educational activities for the whole family to enjoy. Following is a list of things to do in celebration of General Custer and Michigan's Civil War history.

Saturday, September 29th

For information on the Civil War Encampment at the Navarre-Anderson Trading Post, 3775 North Custer Rd. please call 734-240-7780.

From 1:00 to 4:00 pm: Kick off Custer Week with a Civil War Roundtable Discussion at the Monroe County Historical Museum, 126 South Monroe St.

Between 2:00 and 4:00 pm: Attend a book signing by Troy D. Harmon, author of Lee's Real Plan at Gettysburg and Gettysburg National Parks ranger and historian, at the Monroe County Historical Museum, 126 South Monroe St.

At 5:00 pm: Join Troy D. Harmon as he presents Custer at Gettysburg and stay for the opening of the Civil War Exhibit at the Monroe County Historical Museum, 126 South Monroe St.

Sunday, September 30th

From 10:00 am until 4:00 pm: Visit Soldiers & Sailors Park to view a colorful hot air balloon, listen to General George Custer tell of his Civil War aeronaut escapades and observe the Michigan Cavalry History Association's living history demonstration.

At 12 noon, 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm: See President Lincoln give the Gettysburg Address and hear about the Michigan citizens who served during the Civil War as the Michigan National Guard Historian host their Heritage Outreach Presentation at the Sawyer Homestead, 320 East Front St.

At 1:00 pm: Observe the wreath-laying ceremony at the Custer Family Plat at Woodland Cemetery.

1:30 pm: Discover Woodland Cemetery's rich history on the Woodland Cemetery Walking Tour.

Monday, October 1st through Friday, October 5th

10:30 am to 1:00 pm: See Andy Amato's Custer & the Civil War Art Exhibit at Mainstreet, Inc., 118 East Front St.

Monday, October 1st

7:00 pm: Join Gettysburg and Civil War historian William Gower as he presents Custer and His Wolverines at East Cavalry Field on Day 3 at Mainstreet, Inc., 118 East Front St.

AUTHOR'S CORRECTION: The times for Saturday, September 29th's events at the Monroe County Historical Museum have changed. The Civil War Roundtable Discussion will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 PM and Troy D. Harmon's presentation "Custer at Gettysburg" will be held at 7:00 PM.
