Inverness station
The train was travelling from Inverness to Kyle
Police have launched an investigation after the Inverness to Kyle train hit a car on a level crossing.

The incident happened at the crossing on the A862 Newton Road, Dingwall, at about 1130 GMT on Tuesday.

A police spokesman said the train had seven passengers on board while a woman was the only occupant in the car. No-one was injured.

Northern Constabulary have questioned the car driver and will be sending a report to the procurator fiscal.

A First ScotRail spokesman said an inspection of the crossing would be carried out.
