WELCOME to the official webpage of the 5th Annual Conference: Breast Cancer & African Americans (BCAA)!  The Stanford Cancer Institute Community Partnership Program (SCI-CPP)  is pleased to host a special community event focused on eliminating breast cancer disparities in African American populations in the Greater SF Bay Area and surrounding communities through the dissemination of high quality, timely and culturally-tailored health information and resources. Join us for an informative dialogue with clinicians, researchers, health professionals, cancer survivors, caregivers, advocates, and other key stakeholders in the African American community. We have a wonderful lineup of expert speakers and sessions covering the spectrum of breast cancer including, but not limited to breast self-awareness; breast cancer risk; early detection; nutrition; physical activity; treatment and clinical trials options; survivorship; and advocacy. 

A special 5th Year Anniversary Keynote Lecture will be conducted by Camara Phyllis Jones, MD, MPH, PhD, President of the American Public Health Association and a Senior Fellow at the Satcher Health Leadership Institute and the Cardiovascular Research Institute at the Morehouse School of Medicine.

The target audience for this event is African American women (age 18+) cancer patients and survivors, family members, caregivers, friends, community advocates, researchers, clinicians, and health care professionals.

This event is hosted and sponsored by the Stanford Cancer Institute's Community Partnership Program (SCI-CPP). Supporters of this event include the Iota Beta Sigma and Sigma Omicron Chapters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Partners for this event include the Bay Area Black Nurses' Association, Bay Area Disparities Coalition, Alameda County Care Alliance, and a host of other community groups and organizations.

 There is NO COST TO ATTEND this event, but registration is required.  Registration includes light morning refreshments, hot buffet lunch, keynote presentation and lectures, health exhibits/resources, entertainment, networking opportunities, and much, much more!  Early registration is encouraged since seating is limited. We ask that you please do not bring children or minors under the age of 18 and non-service pets to this event. Registration Deadline is April 30th and THIS EVENT IS FULL!!! (SEE MESSAGE BELOW!).  There is no waitlist for this event.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for Registered Nurses and other health professionals, including social workers and community health education specialists (CHES) at no additional cost. 5 CEU hours will be provided by our partners, Bay Area Black Nurses' Association, approved by State BRN #CEP 9053. To receive CEUs, you must be registered for the event and will be required to attend the entire program to receive full CE credit. Please bring your professional license number to sign up for CEUs at the event.

 Complimentary Parking is available at the South San Francisco Conference Center. The conference center also has an agreement to share parking with both its neighboring hotels - the Holiday Inn to the south and the CitiGarden Hotel to the north.  Additional parking is available diagonally across the street in the lot located between the Travelodge and the Best Western Grosvernor Hotel.

Complimentary Shuttle Service is available from/to the SSF BART station and the SSF Conference Center during peak periods (select morning and afternoon hours only) by advance request - contact us via email at pratliff@stanford.edu or by phone at 1.800.383.0941. Please provide the complete name, address, phone, and email (if available) of each individual requesting shuttle service in your communications (all requests must be made at least 48 hours prior to event).
