Weight Loss Journey Day 29 + A1c & New Meds

Hello everyone, how are you doing? Well I hope. The doctor's office called today and I talked with the nurse. She told me that the doctor was looking into the new med and it was approved so I guess I will be started Ozempic. He said that would be in place of the other shot I am doing - I hope because I don't want two shots (although the new one is once a week I think). Anyways, they also let me know what my A1c was. It's jumped up to 9.1 - yikes. That's the highest it has been in 2 or 3 years. Three months of carbs didn't do me any good. I definitely need to be on low carb, as I got my A1c down to 5.6 before with sticking to it. I thought doing the WW would be helpful - but it made things harder. If I was not a picky eater, then I can see the WW diet being useful. However, for me it just cuts out the fats and I end up eating more carbs. So, I guess I lied when I said I would try it for a month. I just need to try to be better at sticking to the original plan that I had in January. My weight was up a few ounces from yesterday - no I am not concerned...I know it is because I had too many carbs. My blood sugars were not as high as yesterday (fasting wise) but still not good. What I ate today was worth 67 points - that's probably more than the 23 allowed points plus the 35 weekly points (10 more points I think). I know I will be up on the scale tomorrow, if not that will be a shock. We will just start fresh tomorrow.....and I hope I will get the hang of this someday soon. What do you think?

I think going back to your original plan is best. I hope the new med works well.

@MommyOfEli2013 Will the pharmacy call you when it's ready? I know mine does.

@just4him Mine don't usually do that, but maybe if it is there and I don't pick it up for a few days they will.

Yes, it's probably best....All WW did was limit my fats and I hated that. Not sure when I will start the new med, went to pick it up today but they said there was no prescription.

Clean that slate off and start fresh today. You can do this! 9.1 is much too high. I worry about your health!

I have had it higher...but when a year ago or so it was at 5.6 that's bad it went up so much. Doing good today with eating, only have had 1 net carb so far.

I don't do good with new foods, so don't see that happening.

@MommyOfEli2013 well if you want to eat healthier you're going to have to change the way you eat which means trying new healthy food

@thislittlepennyearns No, I have to do low carb if I want to. I lost weight and got my blood sugars into normal ranges by eating low carb. I just have to get back to doing it 100% I won't be eating vegetables or fruits.

i dread that A1c test every quarter. Although lately it has helped me stay focused!

I dread it too, unless I know I am doing good. I thought it might have gone up to the 7's but not all the way to 9.1! But I am glad it helps you to stay focused. I need to focus on getting mine back down to the 5's by July.

@DocAndersen That's a pretty good A1c! My doctor is happy if it is under 7.0 but that is still kind of high.
