PRESENTATION ABSTRACT GUIDELINES
Clearly state the central research question, problem to solve, or purpose of the presentation. Creative/artistic and performance presentations may provide an artist statement or a statement of thematic intentions.
Provide brief, relevant scholarly, research, or disciplinary context (no actual citations required) that demonstrate the presentation's attempt to make a unique contribution to the field. Creative projects and performances may discuss influences or inspirations drawn from artistic or performance movements, current political/social influences, trends in the field, personal events or experiences that led to insights, etc.
Provide a brief description of the research or analysis methodology. Creative processes, artistic, and performance projects should discuss the composition styles, performative style, artistic techniques, creative thinking processes, materials used, etc.
State conclusions or expected results of your research or analysis, and the context in which they will be discussed. Performances, artwork, and creative presentations may discuss one or more of the following: how their work advances the development of their creative output, how it challenged and deepened their understanding of the discipline, how it influenced their thematic interests, and/or how their performance/work adds to, responds to, or challenges an established movement, or school, or established methodology.
Do not include graphs or visuals in this proposal. Text only, please.
Be articulate, specific, and well organized. Make your proposal accessible to a non-specialized audience. Even as you cite a specific disciplinary context, do so in a manner that would be understandable to a layperson.
